Gamers are enjoying rich content on their smart phones which are catching up to console games with action, graphics, and unique storylines which make “gaming” portable and enjoyable.  Combo Slash is no exception, and drifting into the game on my iPhone was a real pleasure because I enjoy games where there is a plot involved, and not just to shoot birds into space or whatever.  Thankfully, I was able to find the game Combo Slash, which has completely got me engrossed in another world…. I’m talking I played this for hours! (Yeah, I’ll admit – I did not get any work done today because of this game, but hey – it was the BEST DAY AT WORK I have ever had! LOL!)

The game opens up and it tells you about your mission, which are rescuing fairies who have been abducted and being sold by bandits for money.  You are informed how to operate the game, how to control the game, and then your off to start your adventure!  The game begins, and you enter a world where you fight zombies and “slimes” (look like blobs… either way they are cool!)  You have to go through the various boards, find the fairies, and then find the Boss and beat em’ to a pulp!

Busting crates and barrels, using your sword, you can navigate through your attackers to get vengeance to the evil minions! My first mission was raiding a Bandit Camp with a Boss named Brudon, and no one has ever been able to defeat him.  In fact, the game tells you that anyone who has ever faced him, has come back in a bucket – nice!  We are informed that they are selling girls for the ritual of the “Demon King,” and your opposition is working for ______.  Ok, we have to beat who they are working for out of them, and well that is where stress relief comes in!  Let’s kick some kidnapping butt!

I must point out that you get to pick at the beginning of the game whether you want to be a Mage (a magical being,) or a Cleric (who can heal) – and the game has a randomize map system, which generates variances in environments keeping you on your toes each time you play. There are 39 skill levels that you can obtain, and the attacks are beautifully done – which tells me that this game was well thought out from inception to completion.  Have a look for yourself:

From a graphics standpoint, this game takes your smart phone to another level – comparable to your DSI handheld, or a console game.  The controls are easy to use while holding your phone, and the soundtrack is absolutely amazing!  On a massive killing spree, your slide scrolling past enemies left and right and using various skills you are trying not only to save the fairies – but beat the clock.  If you run out of time and do not rescue your fairy, then you die.  It’s challenging, addictive, and since the game’s environment changes with each go – it’s almost as if you never play the same game twice!  Seriously, that is EXCEPTIONAL game programming for a smart phone app game!

We let other people in our office play the game as well, and they were all impressed by one thing – the fact that the game not only keeps you entertained, but that there were choices in how your character could level.  A classic RPG that incorporates protecting a Princess, killing a lot of great looking creatures, and rescuing those poor fairies before your time runs out!  Yes, my friends, this is NEXT LEVEL gaming for people who love a great looking game at a reasonable price on their iPhone. | CLICK HERE TO GET THE APP

One of my favorite attributes of the game is social networking bragging rights, which gives you the option to post your achievements to your Facebook and Twitter accounts!  To me, that just lets me boast the fact that I am awesome (well getting there) at Combo Slash, and the rest of the world can look upon me and drool!  Fear my sword!  Mu-Ha-ha-Ha-ha!

Oh, and yes – I ended up beating the CRAP out of Brudon, who came at me like psycho, but I was armed with some good advice from a previous conversation with the Princess, so I sent his sorry self home in a bucket.  GO ME!  I highly recommend this game, in fact one of our staff members has been playing it now for FOUR hours and has not stopped talking about it!  Personally, I am looking forward to defeating more creeps, and knocking the hell out of more bosses – because that is what makes this game fun!  Of course, I know that when I restart this game, the locations and terrain is going to change, so I’ll be just as challenged as I was the first time I played!
