Metaphors In My Attic By Andrew T. Austin

I never write a review where I do not do a lot of study, and I never want to claim that a product or service is an A+ service without knowing it is just that. ”Metaphors In My Attic by Andrew T. Austin” is one of these reviews where I had to study, watch, and really learn to understand the unique concept of “Metaphors of Movement” models.
The course is online, with videos and interactive portions which will cost $97.00, and allows you access to a password protected site where you can learn more about NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) which is “an approach to communication, personal development, and psychotherapy created in the 1970s. The title refers to a stated connection between the neurological processes (“neuro”), language (“linguistic”), and behavioral patterns that have been learned through experience (“programming”) and can be organized to achieve specific goals in life.” While strongly debated in the scientific community, the information that I discovered with “Metaphors In My Attic” was quite beneficial, if not eye opening – so I dismiss any debate on whether or not NLP is actually debatable. If it helped me, then obviously it has merit – regardless of what some stuffy scientist believes or disbelieves. (This model does not necessarily use standard NLP models, but uses other ways to deliver self awareness and overcoming personal “suffering” so that should be duly noted.)
Using metaphors which are proprietary to the course, which I found quite insightful, the exercises begin to manifest an awakening into understanding more about “yourself” and utilizes tools and “metaphoric” ideas to overcome them. While writing this review, I found it most difficult because it required me to get back end access to the website, and participate in the course, which allowed me to explore myself. Indeed, I found it at first confusing because I wasn’t sure exactly what this course was about – but as I continued to watched the video sections, I fell in love with what was being explored.
Indeed I have my own personal hurdles, where I am “walking a tightrope” in my life, and while I didn’t realize that I was on a high wire realistically, from a metaphoric standpoint I am constantly dangling on a tightrope, and I am always afraid of falling. I am so afraid of falling that I normally refuse to move forward, and I stop in my tracks, and stand there blowing in the wind preparing to get knocked over. Yes, I am metaphorically my own worst enemy! This awakening was beautiful, and it was one of the most impressive aspects of the course, which was just in the introductory section!
One of the biggest triggers for me in this online course proves what I have felt all along in my own personal counseling sessions, which is that focusing on “how to be happy,” or “how to feel happy” are two separate things. My Doctor will most certainly treat me medically for anxiety using various drugs, but the root cause of my anxiety and the behavior of my anxiety are never explored or addressed. It’s the great big temporary band-aid on a wound that literally must be explored, examined, and then properly treated to permanently heal.
Utilizing metaphors to symbolize situations are quite amusing at times in the course, but drive home a valuable lesson to those who are interested in overcoming depression, anxiety, or simply to get a life changing perspective on one’s own self. For instance, I feel like I am trapped in a cage, and presently more and more each day I feel like that my cage is getting smaller and suffocating me at my job. Learning from this “metaphor,” I understand that the cage that I am in is my own cage, and that it’s getting smaller because I am getting bigger – it must be – because cages cannot shrink. Therefore, I must examine my current employment situation and either “get a bigger cage,” or break out of the bars all together.
The exercises and examples portrayed in this course are well worth the $97.00 course fee, and I feel much better about myself after spending the day watching the videos and learning how to deal with situations as they arise which can only IMPROVE my knowledge of myself, and how I interact and understand others.
Like I said, I don’t want to give any of the proprietary information away, but I will say this – you will walk away from this course having LEARNED SOMETHING and you will understand yourself better, and frankly – it makes me wish that more professionals taught this way instead of putting a band-aid on a emotional wound, per say, instead of allowing us the knowledge to heal it forever.
The course can be found by CLICKING HERE, and I promise that if you decide to invest in taking the training, you will not regret it. Those who suffer from depression, obstacles, anxiety, or just feel trapped – this is a really good way to learn how to see the light at the end of the tunnel (metaphor) instead of falling into the “pit of despair.”
Thank You Andrew, I feel awakened by your hard work! I hope that others will reap the benefits of your course and feel as good as I do today!
Love & Respect,
Jake A. Wheat
