Jake Wheat’s New Book “Color or Die” Features Nudity, Necrophilia, & Disturbing Images

(Photo Left- Kevin Hache After Modeling Session) “Color or Die,” the new coloring book novel for adults is slated to be released in January, and it’s already causing a stir in getting the book published.  The book revolves around one person, a serial killer named “Trace,” who gets off on telling the story of his crimes to a Louisville Metro Police Detective who records his every word which is then transcribed. His crimes include murder, cannibalism, necrophilia, and every gruesome detail is outline in graphic detail.  Coloring pages in the book depict Trace’s drawings which he provides to the detective, many of them containing nude images, and some actual photographs of his victims taken as memoirs.

“The entire book was very hard for me to write, because I am a gentle soul,” Wheat said.  ”I stepped into the mind of this man, this thing, and as he describes the kills of his twenty seven victims I came to realize that most of them were so gruesome that I would have to stop writing. During one in particular, I was so nauseated that I didn’t write anymore on the book for a full week, which set me behind.”

The real photographic images, or memoirs, are photographs of real models which have been “necro-fied,” using a unique photoshop process which gives the look and feel of real dead corpses.  ”There are a couple of models in the book who posed completely naked, others with a few articles of clothing, but all of them very realistic.  I was really lucky to work with a team of people who understood I was looking for a real “true crime” look, in order to really make this book work and they pulled out all of the stops.”

The book was so shocking in it’s draft format, that Wheat’s former literary agent stated he would not move forward with the book, so Wheat countered with another agent to get the project completed.  Wheat commented on this by saying, “I have little or no time for people who choose to force their moral beliefs on my art, albeit dark and disturbing.  It’s fiction, and has no real connection to my life, therefore it should be appreciated for what it is – sick and wonderfully twisted.”

Featured in the photo above is Kevin Hache, who appears on the back cover of the book and also appears fully nude murdered inside of the book, Kevin spoke about the work on this project by saying “It as been a pleasure working for Wheat on this project, and being in those situations was absolutely comfortable for me.  As a model, we are trained to allow ourselves to be vulnerable, and this is about as raw and vulnerable as I have ever been.”

The cover model, Adam Rondeau, appears on the cover shirtless with “Color or Die” scrawled across his chest in blood.  He does not appear nude in the book, but sets the tone for what is inside.  ”Adam was the perfect cover model, and had the physique and sexuality that I wanted to bring to this project.  This serial killer does not hunt by a certain type or pattern, which is explained in the story, but Adam’s look sets the stage for what is inside the pages.  Innocence and death,” Wheat grinned.  ”I know that when people read this book they are either going to say two things, they absolutely loved it and are blown away or – they believe that I need psychiatric help.  Either way, I’ll be fine with whatever conclusion they come up with.”

After Wheat’s October release of “This Is Not Your Kid’s Halloween Coloring Book,” Jake decided that it wasn’t enough.  The candy coated poems and coloring pages were considered adult in nature, but by far did not push the envelope enough.  This time, Wheat said that “this book breaks the mold, and in the hands of the right person, will be a horrific treasure.”

“Color or Die” releases in January, and will be distributed through online booksellers, and Amazon.com.

Of course, the full uncensored version will appear in the book……. so you’ll have to buy it to see him in his postmortem state fully nude.
