While researching the Andrew Compton/Gregory O’Bryan case on the Internet, I have run across some very nasty articles regarding this issue.  I have read multiple keyboard commandos write anti-gay, hate filled bullshit regarding Andrew’s murder and of course none of it focusing making a collective point to GET PEOPLE OFF THEIR ASSES to make a difference.  My efforts on my blog have not always been nice, in fact I can be downright nasty when I want, but I have a mission – a point.  The bitch queens over at the website “The Data Lounge” are downright heartless.

Louisville police search Indiana landfill for body of missing Sullivan student

The search for a missing Sullivan University student turned Tuesday to an Indiana landfill, after Louisville police said a Highlands-area resident told them that the student died while they were having sex and he dumped the body in a garbage bin.

Gregory M. O’Bryan, 40, of the 1600 block of Lucia Avenue, was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a corpse in the disappearance of Andrew Compton, 18.

Compton, of Carmel, Ind., was last seen Oct. 28 in the same block where O’Bryan lives, police said. He was reported missing two days later after his parents were told by his roommate that he hadn’t checked in for a couple of days, police said.

Police initially questioned O’Bryan after determining that he’d exchanged e-mails with Compton, whom he met through an online dating service.

In that initial interview, O’Bryan said he’d picked up Compton at Sullivan’s Gardiner Point Residence Hall, bought alcohol and had sex with him at his apartment before Compton left, according to O’Bryan’s arrest citation.

But when police questioned O’Bryan a second time, he allegedly admitted that Compton had died while they were having sex, according to the arrest report. He said he then had sex with the corpse.

O’Bryan also told police he dumped the body in a garbage bin near his apartment, said Lt. Vince Robison, an assistant police chief.

“I don’t know whether he’s telling the truth or not,” Robison said of O’Bryan.

The poster cites the article from the Courier Journal following the initial arrest of Gregory O’Bryan who is now – maybe (thanks Judge Perry) getting a competency hearing to see if he is psychologically sound enough to stand trial.  *cough*  The comments that follow the article have to be from the bottom of the barrel underbelly scum of the Earth human beings with no soul.

One comment writer who calls himself “Greogry M. O’Bryan” writes:

Another writes:

O’Bryan could fuck my hole anytime. Woof, daddy! Just watch the larynx, fucker.

The comments are not all evil, but most of them are indifferent to the issue at hand which is that meeting people for anonymous sex on the Internet (a hookup as they call it) is worse in Louisville than any other City.  The initial issue that meeting people online is “safe, and ok if you are lucky enough” seems to be the common denominator.

One poster quoted for O’Bryan stating:

“But I’d already paid!”

Another writes:

Usually I tell people that there are worse things than getting dumped … but maybe that doesn’t apply here.

Another writes:

He looks a little goofy. Maybe he had some brain damage, oxygen deprivation at birth or something? I mean.. if a girl looked like that and she got killed, people on DL would be saying “tard face.”

GLBTI people need to come together on this issue, and not make light of the situation.  Making snide keyboard commando comments about Andrew Compton or this case is not tolerable, and frankly makes the GLBTI community look bad.  While I am late discovering this website, and it’s shitty posts by obviously people too ignorant to see the forest for the trees – I leave you with this:

Greogry O’Bryan’s case parallels the Casey Anthony case and he is already seeking to have his case dismissed.  His case is weak, and as a GLBTI community we need to stand up for Andrew and demand justice.  Otherwise, you “online hookup” folks may just be meeting up with O’Bryan if he is released onto the streets – and then what?  I guess I’ll be blogging about you when you are missing.

It’s not funny, and the adults here are not laughing.  Neither is Andrew’s family.
