Trendsmap, is simply real-time mapping of Twitter “trends” from all over the Globe.  It displays a global map with zoom capabilities, and highlights semi-transparent captions that move and change with (again) real-time trends.

Louisville, Kentucky – my hometown displays this map, which thanks to a handy on-site feature, allows me to create a “link of current map view” for you to see – as I am seeing!   What are the current trends for my area right now?  Glory, Breath, Praise, Nephew, Criticizing, Playoffs, and Virgo.  Hmm.

What would Twitter trends be useful for?  Why even bother wondering what trends are surfacing in your area?  Trends are useful for SEO Optimization, and marketing keywords and key ideas for bloggers and other individuals to capture the attention of the majority.  If a trend in your area is about “the playoffs,” then capitalizing on a blog post or small article about “the playoffs” in your area may be the key to more site/blog visits.
